Investing $6.5 million in homes and healin For many in Ventura County, finding a safe, affordable place to live feels out of reach—especially for those facing serious health challenges or recovering from homelessness. That’s why Housing Trust Fund Ventura County is committed to solutions that create real impact. Our latest investments are two loans totalling $6.5 million to Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation to support the development of 161 affordable homes across two new communities: Topa Vista Villas and Camino de Salud. These developments will provide stable, supportive housing for some of our most vulnerable neighbors —offering not just a roof, but a renewed sense of hope and belonging. Together, we’re building a healthier, more inclusive Ventura County—one home at a time.
Housing Trust Fund VC contributes over $1.7 million to create 70 new affordable appartmentsFive years after COVID-19, many are still struggling to return to normal after the uncertainty and instability of the pandemic. According to the Ventura County point-in-time survey, since 2020, the houseless population in Ventura County jumped from 1,787 adults and children to 2,358 in 2024. With a 31% increase in the homeless population in four years, there is an imminent need for developments like the Casa Aliento apartments in downtown Oxnard that meet this rising need head-on in innovative ways.

Housing Trust Fund Ventura County and House Farm Workers! have created a new video, "Hey Neighbor! ¡Hola Vecino!"—a powerful and moving glimpse into the lives of our county's farmworker community. The video made its debut at the House Farm Workers! Forum on Friday, November 22nd in Ventura. somis ranch apartmentsAsk someone about Ventura County and they might mention the beach, the X-Games, or the Dallas Cowboys. But ask a local and it won't be long before someone mentions a citrus tree or a field of strawberries. Agriculture has long been a part of Ventura County's cultural identity, with over 41,000 men and women at local farms and ranches to support an agricultural industry worth $2,000,000,000 annually. For each of the fields, rowed with trees bearing fruits, are dozens of farmworkers who hope to cultivate a life of their own in the communities they help to sustain.
